It may not feel like fall yet, but you know it's the autumn season in Savannah when the amount of events packed into our precious two-day weekends become so plentiful, you wish you could clone yourself.
Here's a top ten list (click here or scroll down) I've put together of some of the hottest events happening around town, including live music, an international food and wine tasting, a beach festival and sea kayak races, to name a few. One near and dear to my heart is the Willie Paige benefit concert this Sunday in City Market from 1-4 p.m.
Willie Paige has been a fixture for the last decade during concerts at City Market and is known for his “air guitar” work. He would also sing songs such as “Dock of the Bay,” "This Little Light of Mine” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.” Paige also sang in church regularly until his health declined, and he is now in hospice. He is expected to be at the market on Sept. 8 for the concert. Thomas Claxton, Jeff Beasley, Chuck Courtenay, Jason Courtenay and Bucky & Barry will perform. Hospice volunteers will accept donations to help pay for funeral costs. All of you are invited!
There's bound to be a few events here that pique your interest and if none of these seem to satisfy you, feel free to head on over to our extensive "Big Calendar" here.
Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!
