For more than 25 years, Rickey Smiley has made millions of people laugh.
A comedian, actor, musician, television host and radio personality, Smiley will bring his "Rickey Smiley & Friends" comedy show to the Johnny Mercer Theater on Feb. 1. Working as a "clean" comic with no obscene language or material, he has created such original characters as "Mrs. Bernice Jenkins," "Lil' Daryl," "Joe Willie" and "Beauford."
Best known for his prank calls, Smiley is the host of the nationally syndicated "Rickey Smiley Morning Show" radio program, based in Atlanta.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., Smiley attended college at Alabama State University in Montgomery. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and Kappa Kappa Psi National Band fraternity.
Smiley plays several musical instruments and is a pianist and organist who often plays on his shows and in church. He has appeared on several national television comedy shows, including BET's "ComicView," "Showtime at the Apollo" and HBO's "Def Comedy Jam."
