After a nine-year hiatus, Nickel Creek announced a new album and tour, and now Savannah has been added as one of the band's stops.
The band will perform at 8 p.m. April 22 at the Johnny Mercer Theatre in the Savannah Civic Center. Tickets for this all-ages show are $27.50, $34.50 and $44.50.
Nickel Creek consists of Chris Thile on mandolin, Sara Watkins on fiddle and Sean Watkins on guitar. The band was founded in 1989 and released six albums between 1993 and 2006, winning a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. The band announced an indefinite hiatus following the conclusion of its 2007 tour.
Thile will also be performing at the Savannah Music Festival with his group, The Punch Brothers, as well as a separate show with fellow mandolinist Mike Marshall. Tickets for those performances are sold out.
Tickets for Nickel Creek's show go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 and are available at the Savannah Civic Center box office, by calling 800-351-7469 or at www.etix.com.
