From "Battle of the Drumlines" at Savannah High School, to Bill Cosby performing live at Savannah Civic Center, to a show by up-and-coming local musc act Velvet Caravan, to free tours of Bonaventure Cemetery, the weekend of Aug. 9-11 in Savannah has something for just about everyone.
We've trimmed down this weekend's schedule to these 10 can't-miss events. Click on an event below to see details and times, visit our "Big Calendar" to create your own personalized schedule, or browse and search the full listing of area events on our Events Site.
So, let's be honest with ourselves. Is there really any socially acceptable reason to stay at home this weekend in Savannah? We can only think of two: (1) You're under legal house arrest forcible by imprisonment or (2) You've already committed yourself to watching all five seasons of "Breaking Bad" back-to-back so you can catch up on water-cooler gossip at work Monday.
Aside from those two exceptions, however, you've got absolutely no excuse not to get out and do something. Well, there may be a few more acceptable excuses, including writing out your grocery list in anticipation of the new Whole Foods Market grand opening this week, but we'll leave it at that for now.
Something huge I missed? Feel free to put me in my place by dropping a comment below. I promise I won't get my feelings hurt.
