About 30 artists performed more than 20 musical selections from a wide variety of stage shows Saturday night as the inaugural Savannah VOICE Festival drew to a close.

The weeks-long event that included several performances in the city beginning Aug. 3 concluded at the Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday evening with "A Grand Night for Singing."

The Savannah Voice Festival was an all-around hit in its first year, said its executive director, Maria Zouves.

"We could not be more delighted at the enthusiasm and support we have received from Savannah," she said.

"We are committed to ensuring that we remain accessible to all by continuing to offer free events and community outreach as well as modestly priced tickets for concerts. We are already planning the August 2014 VOICE Festival."

The group will participate in National Opera Week later this year by hosting events in Savannah: "La Bella Sera: A Night of Italian Opera and Cocktail Reception" will be Oct. 29 at the Westin and a Diana Soviero master class will be from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Christ Church.
