Thousands of people will hit the pavement April 13 for the fifth annual Susan G. Komen Savannah Race for the Cure®.

The race, which starts in Telfair Square, is a 1 mile and 5K run/walk that raises funds for the Coastal Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Funds raised support breast health screenings and diagnostic and education programs.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Savannah Race for the Cure, and according to event organizers, this year's race will include a few surprises, along with live music from Hitman Blues Band, to help celebrate this milestone.

The event also includes a Kids Race for the Cure that begins at 8 a.m.

Teams and individuals who want to participate or those interested in volunteering can register at www.komencoastalgeorgia.org.
