Top picks: A new Mr. Savannah and more with Do and The Bridge

22 Jun 2017

Do editor Heather Henley joins Kim Gusby and Renee LaSalle on WSAV's "The Bridge" to preview the best the weekend has to offer. Read more in Renee's weekly column.

Our cover story this week is the second annual Mr. Savannah Pageant, hosted by the Savannah Sweet Tease on June 24 at The Jinx. You'll see local guys in their finest evening wear, swimsuits and even some drag, plus it wouldn't be a pageant without a talent portion. Read up on this year's event here

Unfortunately, Paul Anka's concert in Savannah was canceled. See our interview with the singer here.

Next up is a free community patriotic celebration June 24 courtesy of the Bloomingdale Recreation Department. Along with fireworks, live music and family-friendly fun, you can learn all about the department's plans for expanding its offerings in the future. More details here

Finally, don't miss a free screening of the Tom Hanks-produced documentary "He Has Seen War" on June 23 at Lucas Theatre. Hosted by the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, this film features members of the Mighty Eighth and will also include a discussion with author and historian Donald Miller, whose research makes up the basis of the documentary. Learn more here.

Look for Heather's weekend preview on "The Bridge" from 11 a.m.-noon every Wednesday on WSAV-TV or catch the live stream.
