The Savannah Book Festival continues in its legacy of bringing sought-after authors to town with the announcement of this year's headliners Scott Turow, Mitch Albom and Eben Alexander.
Turow, author of nine bestsellers, including "Innocent," "Presumed Innocent" and "The Burden of Proof," will open the festival Feb. 13 with a presentation on his new mystery-thriller, "Identical."
Albom, famous for his bestselling works "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "The Five People You Meet in Heaven," will give the festival's keynote address Feb. 14 and discuss his latest book, "The First Phone Call from Heaven."
During the closing address Feb. 16, Alexander will present "Proof of Heaven," the bestselling narrative that describes his 2008 near-death experience, where he asserts science can and will determine heaven exists.
The festival also announced almost 40 popular debut and local authors scheduled to speak at the main day events Feb. 15. These sessions are free and open to the public.
Some of the authors are A. Scott Berg, Wiley Cash, Robin Cook, Nancy Horan, Lily Koppel, Wally Lamb, John Rizzo, Patricia Schultz, Anita Shreve and Deborah Solomon.
A handful of local and Georgia-based authors will also be at the festival, including Glenn Eskew, former Savannahian Dave DiBenedetto, Savannahian and historian Paul Pressly and John McMillian, professor at Georgia State University.
All participating authors' newly published books will be offered for sale during the festival, and authors will sign books purchased at the fest, as well.
