Savannah Christian artist Ka’Von Grace to release second rap album

16 May 2017

When Ka’Von Grace started his music ministry, he was following a call from God.

Called A.O. Ministries, which stands for Amazing Opportunity Ministries, Grace planned to release albums designed to inspire faith and save souls. On May 19, he will release his latest album, “Born Winner,” with a worship concert at The Seed Church.

“It’s my second album and it’s Christian rap,” he says. “I’m really excited about it because it’s spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Grace’s first album, “My Journey,” was released in 2013.

“I believe that’s what my calling is,” Grace says. “I had a good reception for ‘My Journey.’ I’m in the process of working on my third album.”

The name of the ministry describes its goal.

“The message is Christ,” Grace says. “It’s basically giving people opportunities, chances.

“When I have my concerts, I have some young friends who come,” he says. “They want to do photography and I let them shoot photos at the concerts to give them the opportunity, hoping it will lead to something.”

While rap seems more of a young person’s music, Grace feels his music is open to anyone of any age.

“I try not to put an age on it,” he says. “If you like rap, you like rap. If you don’t, you don’t.”

Since 1998, Grace has been a member of The Seed Church.

“I’ve been going there since I was a little boy,” he says. “They always saw something in me.

“That’s home to me. Any time I need something or need someone to pray for me, I can go there.

“It’s an amazing place to go,” Grace says. “There’s a family connection there.”

A native of Savannah, Grace started performing in 2005 with two close friends under the name Goodfellas. They performed gospel rap.

After graduating from high school, Grace took a break from music. He started back in 2010, determined to shake off temptation and lead others to God.

The upcoming album release concert will feature other artists, as well as Grace.

“We will have some of my friends who have worked with me on projects in the past,” Grace says. “Jorlian Jimenez is a singer from Tennessee.

“Grayce N Mercy is a friend of mine. We met at a gospel celebration and have been connected ever since.

“Brandi Thomas will do a pre-show before I go on,” Grace says. “We will have live worship with our Seed Church worship team.”

Young people may be most in need of hearing the message, Grace says.

“With everything that is going on right now, with the young ones killing each other, I feel this is in the right direction,” he says. “They’re into music and dancing. Social media has kind of taken over.

“I just feel they don’t have any direction,” Grace says. “I put a message in my music to help as much as I can, to guide them.”
