As its name implies, Good Times Jazz Bar & Restaurant is a good place to celebrate.
On Nov. 17 and 18, nationally known entertainer Doug Carn and his trio will perform in tribute to a Savannah icon.
"We'll be doing this all weekend in honor of Johnny Mercer," Chef Joe Randall says. "We'll be doing themes periodically, and this month we're honoring Johnny. We have a picture of him on the wall."
Located at 107 W. Broughton St., Good Times opened Oct. 30. It is owned by Stephen and Danielle Moore, while Randall is a consultant. The space features a restaurant on the second floor and a lounge on the first floor offering "bar food," he says.
"We have oysters Rockefeller and three burgers named after jazz musicians from Savannah. We have the Teddy Adams Burger, the James Moody and the Ben Tucker Burger.
"Ben wasn't born here, but he's definitely our guy," Randall says. "On the second floor, we take reservations and people eat dinner. There's a $5 minimal cover charge for people who come into the lounge during musical performances."
The dress code is business attire, he adds.
"We have a different band seven nights a week," Randall says. "On Friday and Saturday nights, it will be Doug Carn doing songs Johnny Mercer wrote."
