Top picks: Get gussied up for Rock 'n' Roll Prom with Do Savannah and The Bridge

17 May 2017

Do editor Heather Henley joins Renee LaSalle on WSAV's "The Bridge" to preview the best the weekend has to offer. Read more in Renee's weekly column.

First up, break out your comic book looks for the fourth annual Rock 'n' Roll Prom, featuring three local bands, photo booths and the crowing of prom royalty on May 19 at The Jinx. Get the full details here.

Before that, head out to Tybee Island at 6:30 p.m. May 19 for the beloved annual tradition of the Beach Bum Parade. Plan to get wet and bring your water guns, but leave the water balloons, ice water and pressure washers at home. Read all about the event here

The local Nine Line Foundation hosts its annual Run for the Wounded 5K/10K run/walk at 6 p.m. May 20 at Daffin Park. Last year's event raised more than $50,000 to help a wounded veteran build a handicap-accessible home, and organizers are hoping to top that amount this year. Full story here

And finally, the Savannah art scene is adding a quirky addition in PULP Bookstore & Gallery on MLK Boulevard. The grand opening features an exhibit called "Shocked & Amazed: Vintage Photographs" featuring circus sideshow performers, true crime photos and the iconic pin-up Bettie Page. See some of the more PG-rated examples of the artwork with our story here

Look for Heather's weekend preview on "The Bridge" from 11 a.m.-noon every Wednesday on WSAV-TV or catch the live stream.
