07 Jun 2017

Do editor Heather Henley joins Kim Gusby and Renee LaSalle on WSAV's "The Bridge" to preview the best the weekend has to offer. Read more in Renee's weekly column.

Our cover story this week focuses on Dancing Stars of Coastal Georgia, in which local celebrities are paired with professional dancers to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter. On June 9 at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, you can be part of the audience and vote for your favorite dancers. Get more facts about Alzheimer's and why these fundraisers are so crucial in Do's story here

June 10 brings a whole bunch of metal music to the Starland District's Sulfur Studios and Space Station at Starlandia. Coastal Rock Productions' 1/2 Way to A.U.R.A. Fest concert features eight bands, both touring and local, in a variety of metal genres. The event is open to all ages and there will even be burritos and ice cream trucks available. Those of age can stop in The Wormhole for a discount on adult beverages during the concert. Get the full details here

There's plenty coming up this week for kids of all ages, too! Savannah's Cultural Arts Gallery showcases 45 years of the work of local master puppet maker Angela Beasley with "The Art of Puppet People" opening June 9. Learn all about Beasley's creative inspiration and get details on upcoming shows and workshops on Tybee Island here

Get your tickets now for "Sesame Street Live: Make a New Friend," coming to Savannah Civic Center for two shows June 13 and 14. Those tickets start at just $12. More info here

Finally, celebrate the launch of "The Original Tybee Island Coloring Book" on June 10 at Tybee Island Social Club. There will be kids' activities, food and music as new local company Color My City debuts the first in a planned series of books. Learn more here
