On July 22, Pastor Shirley Caesar will be joined by fellow gospel legends the Swanee Quintet, Luther Barnes & the Sunset Jubilaires and Canton Spirituals with very special guest Tarralyn Ramsey.

A native of Durham, N.C., Caesar is a Southern gospel singer, songwriter and recording artist known as "the First Lady of Gospel Music."

Her career has spanned more than six decades and brought her numerous awards, including 11 Grammy Awards, 18 Dove Awards, 14 Stellar Awards, a RIAA gold certification, an Essence Award, McDonald's Golden Circle Lifetime Achievement Award, an NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award, SESAC Lifetime Achievement Award, the Rhapsody & Rhythm Award from the National Museum of African American Music, as well as induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Caesar was just 12 when she began recording in 1951. Throughout her career, she has released more than 40 albums and participated in more than 16 compilations.

The creator of three gospel musicals, "Mama I Want to Sing," "Sing: Mama 2" and "Born to Sing: Mama 3," she opened a store to use the profits to help others during the holiday season.

Caesar first began singing and performing for family and friends. At 19, she joined The Caravans, one of the most popular gospel groups at that time.

She sang with Albertina Walker, Cassietta George, Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews, Delores Washington and James Cleveland while in the Caravans. An actress as well as a singer, Caesar appeared in "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" in 1998, "The Fighting Temptations" in 2003 and "The Unseen" in 2005.

The Swanee Quintet of Augusta will celebrate its 78th anniversary in October. Luther Barnes & the Sunset Jubilaires of North Carolina have been presented with several awards for their music.

The Canton Spirituals of Mississippi are one of the most popular Southern gospel groups in the country. They have led the way for other gospel singers and groups.

Tarralyn Ramsey began her career in 2000. She was the first official contestant on the national talent show "The Voice."
