Tickets for the Saturday night Lucas Christmas Cabaret are already gone.
After just four years, the annual event is so popular, tickets go quickly, even though three nights of performances are scheduled to provide more chances to see the show.
“It’s called ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree,’” says Lucas director David Harris. “It’s more ’50s, ’60s style Christmas songs.
“It’s going to be songs by Bing Crosby and Brenda Lee, and songs like ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ and ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.’”
There also will be songs made famous by Johnny Mercer, Elvis Presley and Peggy Lee. Seating is limited to 150 people per night, as guests sit at tables on the stage with the performers.
“Natasha Drena, Cecilia Arango and Trae Gurley are the singers,” Harris says. “We have a full band with piano, bass, drums, guitar and saxophone.”
Although Harris has played the drums for previous cabaret sessions, he will not participate in this performance. The Christmas cabaret was added because he loves Christmas, he says.
“We started the summer cabaret series four summers ago,” Harris says. “It was such fun and a huge success.
“We had down time the week before Christmas, so we thought, ‘Why not try it?’” he says. “People really enjoy it.”
There will be an added bonus at this year’s performances.
“We’re hoping to announce the summer cabaret series at the Christmas cabaret,” Harris says. “The summer ones sell out pretty regularly. A lot of people buy a whole season pass or buy a table for the season.”
