‘Tis the season. The season for strangely beautiful Christmas characters and clowns to come to life in a fetish dreamscape of dance, aerial arts, suspension, burlesque and circus entertainment. You know, that season. The Chris Cook kinda season.
The head honcho of naughty entertainment is back with his jingle bells on for Chris Cook’s Crazy Christmas Circus and Clown Cabaret Fetish Party on Dec. 17 at The Wormhole.
Entertainment oscillates between adorably cute to blushingly raunchy with an array of acts taking the stage.
Savannah-based burlesque troupe The Tied & Tasseled Fetish Cabaret will pair traditional burlesque with a flair of fetish and rock ‘n’ roll, while the Stardust Pixxies will hoop, dance and move their bodies to the rhythm of the beat. (There may or may not be fire involved). Dead City Clowns will provide the holiday haunts and Analog Kid is the official “musical genius” of the night. A bearded lady, scantily clad women, whips, chains and a clown lying on a bed of nails — it’s all in a Saturday night.
So, sure, you’ll be entertained, but there is also plenty of room to participate. Whether the voyeur or the exhibitionist, one can play around in the kink and play dungeon hosted by Electricution, or get tied up, Shibari style.
And while Cook’s themed parties have been a staple in Savannah (on and off) for the last 15 years, he says his style has never fit comfortably into the theme of the city.
“We stand out; we’ve always stood out,” said Cook. “Our parties are considered more risqué and that’s what we want. We’re on the level of a strip club, but without the nudity.”
They push the limits, at times more than they should, said Cook.
“Sometimes we get on stage and it turns out to be more than even we expected too,” he said. “We don’t know our own boundaries.”
But the revelry is always fun, and this time for a good cause. The fetish party is also a toy drive for Toys for Tots. So as you put on your leather boots with matching tassels, think of the kids, and bring a new unwrapped toy for donation.
Partygoers will have a chance to win some toys, too, with a giveaway by Starship Novelties. The gift basket is full of, well, we probably can’t say. You should just show up and see for yourself. And try not to blush.
