Calling all geeks, nerds, cosplayers and more: Savannah Mega Comic Con celebrates its fifth year May 12-13 at the Savannah Civic Center. With over 100 vendors selling a variety of comic books, toys and geek memorabilia and collectibles, the con offers something for everyone.

Tony Privette, owner and operator of the con, said, "This is a family-friendly event for all ages of the family from 1 to 100."

"We are all from Savannah and we are all geeks and love this culture," he said, adding that fans are the main focus.

"It is the support of the fans and the awesome team I have behind me helping make this show the awesome event it is," he said.

Fans will have the chance to meet a number of special guests at the con. Voice actors will be in attendance, including Christopher Sabat from "Dragon Ball Z" and "Dragon Ball Super," as well as Eric Vale and Monica Rial from "Dragon Ball Z." Look for WWE Hall of Famer Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Samantha "Jem" Newark and Michael Copon of "Power Rangers Time Force." Actors from “The Walking Dead” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will also be at the show.

The Coastal Empire Squad of the 501st Legion will bring Darth Vader and more. A Shoot the Trooper event will raise funds for charity.

"We have Marvel and DC Comics artist Bo Hampton and Robert Atkins as well as many, many other artists that will be on hand to meet and greet the fans," said Privette.

In addition to the special guests, expect panels about comic books, film making and cosplay, as well as a cosplay contest both days of the con. Other special events include Wicked South Productions' haunted house, Savannah Escape Room, a scavenger hunt and raffle prizes every hour.

A Drink and Draw after party will benefit Ted Gallop, well known in the local geek community from working at Galactic Comics & Games and owning Gallop's Comics before that. Gallop recently had some unexpected medical expenses, Privette said.

And to celebrate Mother's Day, Privette said all mothers get in for free Sunday.
