The SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo is an annual fundraiser for St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital, which includes the Mammography Fund at Telfair Pavilion that provides mammograms and other breast care services for those who cannot afford those life-saving services.
This year will feature actress and philanthropist Jane Seymour, an Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner and recipient of the Officer of the British Empire in 2000. Seymour has proven her talents in all media, the Broadway stage, motion pictures and television.
Seymour’s past films include the James Bond movie "Live and Let Die," "Somewhere in Time," and "Wedding Crashers. "Her television credits include the Emmy® Award winning performance in "Onassis: The Richest Man in the World" as Maria Callas, "East of Eden," for which she was awarded a Golden Globe®, the mini-series "War and Remembrance" and her Golden Globe® winning role as “Dr. Quinn” on "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman," which ran for six seasons.
Seymour stars opposite Robert DeNiro in the upcoming film "War with Grandpa," opposite Adam Sandler in "Sandy Wexler" for Netflix, and with Malcolm McDowell in the independent feature film "Bereave." In 2014, she served as an executive producer on the documentary film "Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me" which told the story of musician’s Glen Campbell’s farewell tour while dealing with the effects of Alzheimer’s.
In addition to acting, Seymour has written over a dozen books including The Wave, Open Hearts Family, Among Angels, Open Hearts, Making Yourself At Home, and Remarkable Changes. As well, she has launched Jane Seymour Designs, a national lifestyle brand inspired by her homes, art and family-centered life.
Last year SmartWomen raised $170,000 for uninsured and underinsured women to get the mammograms and breast health services they need.
In our region, approximately 20 percent of the population is uninsured or underinsured. The goal of the Mammography Fund is to ensure that all women have access to mammography and other services, even if they have no insurance and cannot afford it. The SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Telfair Mammography Fund to meet this goal since its inception more than a decade ago.
Past years’ luncheons have featured notable women such as Anne Burrell, Fran Drescher, Amy Grant, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, Marilu Henner, Joan Lunden, Giuliana Rancic, Leigh Anne Tuohy, Olympia Dukakis, Ellen Burstyn, Peggy Fleming, Ivana Trump, Erin Brockovich, Suze Orman and author Mary Kay Andrews.
Tickets are $65 per person or $600 for a table of ten. For more information, contact St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations at (912) 819-8683 or email email@example.com.
