All Live Oak Public Libraries branches in Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty Counties will be open normal hours starting Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. Tybee Library will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 15, to prepare the building to be reopened on Monday, Sept. 17. Library patrons will not be charged for overdue fines accrued from Friday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 16. Online resources, including e-books, audiobooks and videos, are available 24/7 at www.liveoakpl.org.
Sept. 13 ongoing: The following National Wildlife Refuges will be closed as of 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13: Pinckney Island NWR (Beaufort County, S.C.), Savannah NWR (Jasper County, S.C., and Chatham and Effingham counties), Wassaw NWR (Chatham County), Harris Neck and Blackbeard Island NWRs (McIntosh County).
These refuges will remain closed until the storm has passed and refuge staff has an opportunity to assess damages and conduct any clean-up operations. The closure includes all vehicle, bicycle, and foot traffic, along with the use of any fishing piers and boat ramps or docks.

All library events and activities are cancelled for Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15.
Regarding Live Oak Public Libraries operations on Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16, the library system will review the emergency management directions and travel advisories issued by each county.
Library patrons will not be charged for overdue fines accrued from Friday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 16. Library book drops will be closed when libraries are closed. Library staff request that patrons do not use book drops as items may be damaged in bad weather.
Private schools: Blessed Sacrament, St. James and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Schools will close Friday, Sept. 14 due to the threat of adverse weather conditions from Hurricane Florence.
Effingham County: Atlantic Waste will be collecting Thursday and Friday trash pickups Thursday. Thursday and Friday recycling will be postponed to next week. Collection will be attempted Monday through Wednesday.
Effingham County: Waste Management has postponed trash collection in the city of Springfield until further notice.
Sept. 14: Due to potential severe weather from Hurricane Florence, there will be no school for Calvary Day School or Calvary Early Learning Center on Friday, September 14. We will have a regular school day on Thursday, September 13 but all after school activities and athletic activities will be canceled. While the path of the storm is still in question, we want to keep our families safe.
Sept. 14: St. Andrew’s School will be closed Friday, September 14, 2018 due to potential severe weather conditions. Thursday, September 13 is a regular school day.
Sept. 14: Classes on Friday have been cancelled at Benedictine Military School and BC's football game Friday night against Groves has been cancelled. BC's Raider Challenge Team competition Saturday at BC also has been cancelled.
Sept. 15: The Wilmington Island Farmers' Market at Islands High School has been canceled for Sept. 15 due to adverse weather conditions.
Sept. 15: "Remembering the Otranto, a WWI Tragedy" has been canceled. The event was to be held Sept. 15 at both the Tybee Island Museum and at the Tybee Post Theater.
Tybee Post Theater has canceled the production of “Sex Please, We're Sixty.” That was for Sept. 14-16. The Theater troupe is out of Beaufort, S.C., and they are evacuating.
Sept. 13 ongoing: Fort Pulaski National Monument will be closed starting Thursday, Sept. 13. The park will remain closed until after the storm has passed and re-open once damage assessments have been made and the park is deemed safe for visitation.
