Whether it’s your favorite book or the book you love to hate, everyone has that one book that has made a lasting impression.

The Athens-Clarke County Library will partner with Rabbit Box to celebrate those books on Tuesday with “The Best. Book. Ever. Stories of The Great American Read.”

Rabbit Box provides a monthly storytelling series for the Athens area that aims to showcase the stunning diversity of the people who live here. These stories bring us closer to a common understanding, a deeper sense of history and a shared community.

October’s show will take place at the Athens-Clarke County Library, 2025 Baxter St., and all of those stories will be related to The Great American Read.

The Great American Read introduces readers to titles that have been named to the list of America’s 100 best-loved books as chosen by the public and literary experts. The list was compiled through a special PBS survey.

Americans have been encouraged to vote for their favorite book online and through social media platforms. This fall, Georgia Public Broadcasting is airing the PBS series which will count the list down to the No. 1 book. It’s all part of The Great American Read national multi-platform initiative that also includes social media and other digital resources.

The event is free and open to the public. Programming for The Great American Read is offered through a grant by the American Library Association and PBS.
