The 15th annual SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo, set for Oct. 4, will feature Food Network star Anne Burrell.
The event is an annual fundraiser for St. Joseph's/Candler's Mary Telfair Women's Hospital, which includes the Mammography Fund at Telfair Pavilion.
Burrell is a chef, author and restaurateur who has worked at some of the top restaurants in New York City, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy, battled alongside Mario Batali as his sous chef on Food Network's "Iron Chef America" and wrote a New York Times best-selling cookbook. She is the host of Food Network's "Worst Cooks in America" and "Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition," where she mentors a team of celebrities who are in serious need of some cooking pointers. In spring 2017, Anne will be opening her first owned and operated restaurant, Phil & Anne's Good Time Lounge, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Last year, SmartWomen raised $151,000 for uninsured and underinsured women to get the mammograms and breast health services they need.
Past years' luncheons have featured notable women such as Fran Drescher, Amy Grant, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, Marilu Henner, Joan Lunden, Giuliana Rancic, Leigh Anne Tuohy, Olympia Dukakis, Ellen Burstyn, Peggy Fleming, Ivana Trump, Erin Brockovich, Suze Orman and author Mary Kay Andrews.
