Before the America's Heroes Celebration begins on Jekyll Island, event sponsor NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC of Claxton will host a free concert featuring Savannah native and country musician Chuck Courtenay at their dealership in Claxton from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 15.

Rusty Pig BBQ will serve free barbecue and sweet tea and a drawing will be held after the concert for VIP tickets and backstage passes for the Aug. 18 Rodney Atkins concert in Jekyll Island. The package also includes hotel accommodations, but you must be present to win.

"The winner will get to go backstage and rub elbows with Rodney Atkins before the show," said Demere NeSmith, dealer principal of NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC in Claxton. "When we were asked to help sponsor the America's Heroes Celebration in Jekyll, we felt it was a perfect fit for us. We've been in business for 39 years and we have always supported our military.

"They have sacrificed so much for us. They keep us free in America, free from attacks and allow us to have those freedoms, and we are always so grateful to them for what they do," NeSmith said.
