Charity wine tasting

Knife sharpening fundraiser

11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5-8. Chef Darin’s Kitchen Table, 2514 Abercorn St. Chef Darin’s Kitchen Table kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a knife-sharpening fundraiser to benefit the mammography fund of the Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s/Candler. Get knives sharpened while you wait or drop off for later pickup. Cost is $5 for blades 5 inches or longer and $3 for blades under 5 inches. More info at chefdarin.com.

Koozies for Boobies party

7 p.m. to close. Oct. 6-7. Wet Willie’s locations: 101 E. River St. and 20 Jefferson St. in Savannah and 16 Tybrisa St. on Tybee Island. The seventh annual Koozies for Boobies breast cancer awareness parties are Oct. 6-7. A percent of sales for all pink koozies, coolies and Koozies for Boobies T-shirts and a percent of sales during the party will benefit Komen Coastal Georgia. Free pink ribbons. BigWigs Bake Sale

Kick Event for Breast Cancer

8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30-8 p.m. Oct. 12. 9Round Fitness, 11408 Ford Ave., Richmond Hill. 9Round, a local kickboxing fitness franchise, will host its Kick Event for Breast Cancer. Participants will raise money for breast cancer awareness, with one penny being donated for every kick recorded throughout the day. Donations will go to St. Joseph’s/Candler Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital. Info at 9round.com.

The Pink Hero Run 5K

6 p.m. Oct. 13. Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, 225 Candler Drive. The Pink Hero Run 5K honors our local brave breast cancer survivors. Proceeds benefit the Telfair Mammography Fund, which assists uninsured and underinsured women who can’t afford a necessary mammography screening. Register at sjchs.org/herorun.

All money raised by this campaign goes directly to the American Cancer Society. Cocoa’s will be donating a percentage of every pink martini to the cause and there will be door prizes. Free mammograms for eligible women

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 24. Chatham County Health Department, 1602 Drayton St. The Chatham County Health Department’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and St. Joseph’s/Candler Mobile Mammography Program will host free mammogram screenings for women who meet eligibility guidelines. Women who meet certain annual income guidelines and are 40 to 64 years of age without insurance will be eligible to receive a screening mammogram at no cost. Appointments preferred; walk-ins accepted. Call 356-2946.

Awareness seminar

5:30 p.m. Oct. 24. Marsh Auditorium at Candler Hospital. The Paint the Town Pink Breast Health & Breast Cancer Awareness seminar is free and open to the public. Learn about good breast health, breast cancer prevention, genetic cancer risk and testing and lifestyle changes with a panel of experts from the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion. Komen fundraiser at farmers' market

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 28. Islands High School, 170 Whitemarsh Island Road. Wilmington Island Farmers' Market will host a Halloween party featuring kids' yoga (costumes encouraged), live music, crafts, face painting, food truck cuisine and a chili cook-off between local churches. Susan G. Komen of Coastal Georgia BigWig fundraiser Amy Shippy will also host a fundraiser for breast cancer research. Those who donate will be rewarded with a free pink macaron. Fundraising efforts continue with "Paint Your Pumpkin Pink," a craft activity that grants those who donate $5 or more access to multiple shades of pink paint and their own farm-grown pumpkin to decorate. Learn more at komencoastalgeorgia.org.

Yoga fundraiser

10-11 a.m. Oct. 29. Forsyth Park. Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia BigWig fundraiser Shelley Lowther of Dancing Dogs Yoga Savannah will host a yoga class to benefit local breast cancer research and the fight to eliminate breast cancer. Mammography Day

Oct. 30. Various locations. St. Joseph’s/Candler will provide mammograms for women at the Telfair Pavilion at Candler, St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Imaging Services, SJ/C’s Telfair Imaging Center on Eisenhower, SJ/C Imaging Center in Pooler, and the Imaging Center at Belfair Towne Village East in Bluffton, S.C. SJ/C’s Mobile Mammography Unit will offer mammograms at the Savannah Civic Center. Schedule a mammogram at 912-819-PINK.
