Dozens of people joined All Walks of Life Inc. on June 14 to celebrate the release of the seventh album,"Step Up to the Mic," from music program The P.R.O.J.E.C.T.S., which stands for Positive Re-Education of Juveniles Everywhere Concerning the Streets.
The 22-week program aims to expand music literacy by teaching creative writing, music history and music theory to at-risk youth.
By the end, the students have produced an album with what artist facilitator Travis Winbush calls "role model music."
"We had 14 kids working on the album from start to finish," Winbush said. "They've all been working together to create the album and they're really geared up for the release."
The album is available online at www.hiphopyouknow.bandcamp.com.
