Although we allowed local charities up to three items on their holiday wish lists, the Social Apostolate of Savannah requested just two simple things: diapers (sizes 4-5) and jars of jelly or jam (12 ounces or smaller).

If everyone who reads this column gave just one of those items, it would help the nonprofit along in its mission to care for and empower the homeless, disabled and otherwise "at risk" members of our community.

Other groups need bigger items, ranging from generators to office space. Whether it's a large donation or a small one, remember that it all makes a difference for someone.

Call the Social Apostolate at 912-233-1877 to donate to their cause, and find all the wish lists here.
