There's good news for folks still heartbroken over the cancellation of the iconic Redneck Games in Dublin this year: The Savannah Parrot Heads Club plans to bring back its Redneck Olympics.

While they won't have the famous mudpit belly-flop contest, their games will be busy with cornhole, washers, toilet seat horseshoes, redneck golf and beer can bowling.

Sasha Ruth, activities director for Savannah Parrot Heads Club, said the event will feature a variety of fun games, food, drinks and prizes.

"We will have the usual backyard-type games but with a little redneck twist to make it fun," she said. "We will give medals to the winners, too."

Redneck Olympians can register as a team or individually ,and entry fees include a plate of barbecue and a non-alcoholic drink.

"Spectators are also welcome to come out and just pay for the food and drink and enjoy the entertainment," Ruth said.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle with T-shirts, hats, gift cards and Margaritaville swag, Ruth said.

"We want to raise as much money as possible and this year, we are donating all the proceeds to the Islands Feral Cat Project," Ruth said.

She said local rock band Bad Justice will provide live entertainment.

"So, after the games are finished, everyone can hang out and listen to live music and enjoy the party," Ruth said.

Teams and individuals must register at the event, and the olympics will take place at the outside games area of Coach's Corner.
