The Anthrax and Testament double bill was canceled recently at The Stage on Bay, but the venue has two upcoming shows featuring supremely talented performers with strong local followings: Keller Williams on June 23 and JJ Grey & Mofro on June 27.

Not to be confused with the real estate company with the same name, Keller Williams performs with a stunning variety of other musicians, including The Travelin' McCourys and The Keels, but he is best known for his high-energy solo gigs with his acoustic guitar.

Whether he’s playing guitar, singing or even whistling, Williams has a powerful stage presence. His albums, each of which has a one-word title that conveys the record’s essence, manage to capture most of the energy of the live shows.

Tickets ($19 general admission, $29 for the “VIP loft”) are available via ticketfly.com. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the show at 9 p.m. June 23.

JJ Grey & Mofro, which melds blues, funk and southern rock, has also played many packed gigs in Savannah over the years.

Frontman JJ Grey lives and records outside Jacksonville on a former chicken farm run by his grandparents. The commanding Grey works in his pecan grove when he isn’t touring relentlessly.

I’m a big fan of JJ Grey & Mofro’s latest album “Ol’ Glory,” which No Depression called “a new gem” when the record was released in 2015.

The title track “Ol’ Glory” features Grey’s powerful vocals searching for the meaning of glory: “I heard it in a bullied child / I saw it in a mother’s smile / I heard it in a father’s tone / I speak to me when I'm all alone / It’s the Glory — it’s the Glory.”

The doors for JJ Grey & Mofro open at 7 p.m. June 27, with the show at 8 p.m.
