Wrestling fans, prepare to get up close and personal with superstars from the WWE on Aug. 5 as they roll into Savannah for the SummerSlam Heatwave Tour.
While general admission tickets start at $15, new VIP packages (starting at $349) allow fans to walk the aisle like their favorite WWE stars and even meet and greet the wrestlers.
Bobby Lashley is one of the WWE Superstars coming to Savannah. A lifelong wrestler, he is a three-time national wrestling champion and a four-time wrestling All-American. He is also a two-time Armed Forces champion, taking home the silver medal in the 2002 CISM World Champions.
He joined WWE ECW "Raw" and defeated Umaga in Wrestlemania 23. Lashley returned to "Monday Night Raw" for one night after Wrestlemania 34.
Everything changed for Lashley when Kurt Angle, on-screen general manager for WWE Raw, saw him training as an amateur wrestler. Lashley said Angle told him he had a great look for professional wrestling. Not long after that, he joined WWE.
That look doesn't come easily, though — Lashley trains every day.
"The game is always evolving," he said, "and people have to train to evolve."
Lashley said he likes going on tour and is looking forward to a big crowd in Savannah. He loves the energy and when he goes out to the ring, he gets "as hyped as possible."
He added that he enjoys helping nonprofit groups through the WWE, including its Be a STAR anti-bullying alliance, the USO and more. He said the WWE is a "huge brand to help, and I love helping kids."
Lashley's humble demeanor and attitude are reflected in his performances.
Giving credit to those who helped him become a WWE Superstar, Lashley said, "I can do nothing by myself."
