The Savannah Children’s Choir is looking for new members.

Children interested in singing, performing, meeting new friends and in some cases, traveling, can audition for the choir’s upcoming 13th season from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 20 at Savannah Arts Academy.

The SCC just returned from a trip to France this summer, where they performed a special concert near the beaches of Normandy in honor of the American soldiers who lost their lives on June 6, 1944, during the D-Day landings of Operation Overlord. They also sang Mass at Notre Dame in Paris at the tail end of the trip.

“Our mission is to unite, mentor and transform kids through excellence in choral performance,” SCC co-founder and executive director Roger Moss said in an interview with Do Savannah earlier this year. “It doesn’t get any more excellent than performing at Notre Dame.”

SCC is looking for children in third through eighth grades for a stress-free audition. They may bring a prepared song or simply sing "Happy Birthday." Prior musical experience is not required, just a love for singing. Following the audition, accepted children will be placed in the apprentice, prep or premier choirs. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The SCC is open to all children, regardless of family income. For more information, call 912-228-4758.
