Bacon Fest: Sept. 7-9; River Street; free admission; riverstreetsavannah.com. The fifth annual Bacon Fest returns with the usual pork-drenched three-day celebration along River Street. Grab a to-go cup, get some bacon-wrapped shrimp and take a stroll along the Savannah River while a non-stop lineup of bands play. Bring the family for fun at the Waterfront Kidz Zone.

Seventh annual Tunnel to Towers Savannah 5K Run/Walk: 8 a.m. Sept. 8; Orleans Square in downtown Savannah; $35, $30 active military/first responders, $20 ages 7-17, $45 day of event; t2trun.org.
