Sept. 7-9

Bacon Fest: Sept. 7-9; River Street; free admission; riverstreetsavannah.com. The fifth annual Bacon Fest returns with the usual pork-drenched three-day celebration along River Street. Grab a to-go cup, get some bacon-wrapped shrimp and take a stroll along the Savannah River while a non-stop lineup of bands play. Bring the family for fun at the Waterfront Kidz Zone.

 

Sept. 7

First Friday in Starland: 6-9 p.m. Sept 7; Sulfur Studios, 2301 Bull St., and Starland District; free; sulfurstudios.org. Multiple art exhibit receptions, open studio night, vendors’ market and more. Read up on the graffiti-inspired “Out of Context” here.

 

Sept. 8
Seventh annual Tunnel to Towers Savannah 5K Run/Walk: 8 a.m. Sept. 8; Orleans Square in downtown Savannah; $35, $30 active military/first responders, $20 ages 7-17, $45 day of event;  t2trun.org. This event honors Stephen Siller and 342 of his fellow FDNY firefighters who died on 9/11. Read more in Do's story here.

 

Sept. 8

“Healthy Me!” event: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 8; Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Road; $7.50 for ages 18 months and older or free for Coastal Heritage Society members; chsgeorgia.org. Programs on cooking, gardening, wellness, yoga and more. Savannah Children’s Theatre will perform “Hansel and Gretel Learn How to Eat Right” at noon.

 

Sept. 8

Savannah Art Walk: 2-6 p.m. Sept. 8; downtown Savannah; free; savannahartwalk.com. Explore the city’s downtown galleries, enjoy free cocktails, and spend $20 or more at a gallery to enter the after party art raffle.
