An evening with David Sedaris: 7:30 p.m. April 24; Lucas Theatre for the Arts, 32 Abercorn St.; $59-$69; One of American’s preeminent Southern humorist, Sedaris will visit Savannah for a reading and book signing. Sedaris is the author of “Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice,” as well as collections of personal essays, “Naked,” “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim,” “When You Are Engulfed in Flames,” and his most recent book, “Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls,” each of which became an immediate bestseller.

Artist talk with Jessica Pope: 6 p.m. April 18; Jepson Center for the Arts, 207 W. York St.; Free; Join Savannah-based artist Jessica Pope for a discussion of her site-specific installation, “Folklore.” Pope’s installation consists of six large-scale paper quilts centered around the Kodachrome slides, filled with stories of the past that evoke a comforting sense of nostalgia.

DeSoto Benefit Oyster Roast: 1 - 6 p.m. April 20; Edgar’s Proof & Provision patio, 15 E. Liberty St.; $20 per person; The DeSoto will host an all-you-can-eat oyster roast this Saturday with all proceeds going to veteran families via the Sotherly Foundation, a community outreach of Sotherly Hotels. There will be live music from Bucky & Barry.

Funny As Ish Comedy Tour: 8 p.m. April 19; Savannah Civic Center, 301 W. Oglethorpe Ave.; $47-$125; Comedian Mike Epps, best known for his role as Day-Day Jones in “Next Friday,” and “Friday After Next,” with Sommore (“Soul Plane,” “Friday After Next”), Rickey Smiley, Tony Rock, Earthquake & DC Young Fly will visit Savannah.

Let’s Get Baked: Mac & Beer Cheese Competition: 5 p.m. April 20; Southbound Brewing Company, 107 E. Lathrop Ave.; $20 registration, free admission; Southbound will host a special mac and cheese bake off. Each recipe must include a Southbound Brewing Company beer and be created off site.
