The Drinking Class, Labor Day bar crawl: 4 p.m. Aug. 31; Boomys, 409 W. Congress St.; $5-$12; Come celebrate Labor Day weekend with several of Savannah’s most fun bars. Come decked out in your style of white--white toga's, white T-shirt's, white dresses, white shoes, white jeans, white everything, because you’re not allowed to wear it after Labor Day! Participating bars are Boomys, Rogue Water, The Escape Co. ~ Hideaway Lounge, Tree House, Pour Larrys, Wild Wing Cafe, BarrelHouse South, PS Tavern, Bay Street Blues, 309 West on the River, Stafford’s Public House and Savannah Smiles.

Labor Day at Fort McAllister: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 2; Fort McAllister State Historic Park Visitor’s Center, 3894 Fort McAllister Road, Richmond Hill; $9 per person; 912-727-2339 or No park pass required with event admission. Tour the fort, museum and grounds along the Ogeechee River. Civil War living history demonstrations include cannon, musket firings. Fishing, picnic areas.

Labor Day weekend at Bass Pro: 12 p.m. Aug. 31, Sept. 1; Bass Pro Shops, 14045 Abercorn St.; Free. Bass Pro will have free games, prices, crafts, face painting, seminars and food on Saturday and Sunday.


Labor Day Beach Bash: 7-11 p.m. Sept. 1; Tybee Island Pier, Tybrisa St., Tybee Island; Free; 912-652-6780. Free live entertainment by The Swingin’ Medallions followed by a fireworks display.

Community Fireworks Show: 8 p.m. Sept. 1; Fish Tales, 3203 Fort McAllister Rd., Richmond Hill; Fish Tales is hosting their annual community fireworks show. They will have a viewing area to bring lawn chairs and beach towels. There will be food and drink on the premises.

Annual Labor Day family picnic: 12 p.m. Sept. 1; 1520 Old Dean Forest Rd.; $7 per person. Celebrating America’s working heroes, there will be BBQ chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. There will be games for kids.


Salzburgers Hertiage Day celebration: 9:30a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 2; Georgia Salzburger Society, 2980 Ebenezer Road, Ga. Hwy. 275, Rincon; free admission; 912-754-7001. BBQ, brats, pastries, honey ,lemonade made in wooden barrels, stew cooked n cast iron pots. Activities for all ages, digging dirt, hay rides, backwater expeditions.  Museum open, along with the parsonage and the old farm house. At 11 a.m. in Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Armin Siedlecki will present his research on the impact of the Salzburgers on religion in Georgia. 

Labor Day beach clean up: 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2; Tybee Island Marine Science Center, 1509 Strand Ave.; Join the Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers to remove litter from around the Tybee Island Beach Pier and Pavilion. Parking passes are available at the sign in table and must be returned at the end of the event. All equipment is provided.
