Georgia Department of Transportation crews will install lane closures on U.S. 80 east of Lazaretto Creek Bridge on Tybee Island from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Lane closures are necessary so crews can repair a pipe under the roadway and any roadwork that may be needed at this location, GDOT spokeswoman Jill Nagel said. Motorists traveling to and from Tybee Island should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes.
This is a work zone and extreme caution is necessary. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds as they travel through this and all work zones, Nagel said. Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes.
