Many websites and travel shows usually head into Savannah to find the best places to eat, but one Cooking Channel show headed across the highway to Tybee Island to feature some of the top spots to chow down at while visiting the beach.
"Beach Bites with Katie Lee" finds the host following "her taste buds to delicious locations in the Bahamas, California, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and South Carolina, getting a first-hand look at how local chefs dish out regional flavors, alongside beautiful waterside backdrops." "Katie Lee's appetite for adventure, love for beaches, and passion for uncovering unique eateries wherever she travels is palpable. It makes viewers feel like they are right there with her seeing and tasting everything each destination has to offer," Courtney White, Executive Vice President, Programming, Food Network and HGTV, said in a premiere press release.
The show, which features half-hour long episode, will be on Tybee Island on the June 28 episode with restaurants being featured, including: CoCo's Sunset Grille, Schumm's Chicken & Schrimp Hut, North Beach Bar and Grill, The Deck Beach Bar and Kitchen, Tybee Island Fish Camp, Sweetie Pie and the Tybee Island Social Club.

Katie Lee heads to Tybee Island, Georgia, a barrier island just 18 miles southeast of culinary mecca Savannah. The small island is full of big flavors, and Katie starts her exploration with perfectly sweet local shrimp and a spicy blackened fish hoagie at a restaurant so beloved that the locals rallied to keep it open. She's introduced to "hog wings," a local version of hot wings that trade the chicken for pork, and she dives into the local specialty, oysters, that are so nice, she tries them twice -- roasted and baked with collards and bacon. Katie finishes off her visit with ice cream cookie sandwiches and deep-fried strawberries that represent what the South is all about.
In the episode following the Tybee Island one, Lee is set to visit Sullivan's Island, Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms and Folly Beach in South Carolina.
The episode with Tybee Island will premiere on June 28 at 10 p.m. on the Cooking Channel, but will have re-runs on June 29 at 2 a.m., July 1 at noon, July 12 at 10:30 p.m. and July 13 at 2:30 a.m. For more information, learn more at the show's website.
