Richmond County investigators announced a break in a July fatal shooting that claimed the life of Antoine Jones.
On Friday, investigators were able to contact Jessica Bryant, a person wanted for questioning in the case since early August. Bryant was interviewed at the Sheriff's Office at 400 Walton Way.
During the investigation, law enforcement was able to link three people with the death of Jones. Jessica Bryant, 31, of Augusta, was arrested for murder. Frank Asuncion, 33, of Augusta was arrested for murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Both are being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
Kenneth Ray Straughn, 41, of Grovetown was linked to the case and has been charged with murder. Straughn is in custody in the Columbia County Detention Center and is awaiting transfer to Richmond County.
According to an incident report, on July 28 Jones’ mother heard gun shots around 5:30 a.m. and went looking for her son. She found him lying in the backyard of his home near the woods. Deputy Assistant Coroner Leisey Car responded to the scene and pronounced Jones dead at 7:30 a.m., according to an incident report.
On July 31, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab determined that the cause of death was homicide and the case was upgraded to murder, according to an incident report.
