Two women from the Atlanta metro area were arrested April 8 at Georgia Square mall for stealing 15 Nike clothing items with a total value of $585 from the Belk Department store, Athens-Clarke County police said.
A Belk loss prevention employee reportedly watched the suspects enter a fitting room with empty bags and exit with the bags full, according to police.
The suspects, a 23-year-old Alpharetta resident and a 48-year-old woman from Marietta were detained by police after they left the store. Recovered from their bags were shirts, pants, shorts and a tool for removing security sensor tags.
One of the woman was wearing stolen clothing under her own, according to police.
The women were each charged with theft by shoplifting and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, police said.
