Get your racing gloves on and jump in the car for this movie.
The first images for "Ford v. Ferrari" were released last week with the initial looks at stars Christian Bale and Matt Damon. While the title would suggest the Oscar-winning actors are playing the titular roles, Bale and Damon will actually play pit crew members for the legendary car owners, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“This is David vs. Goliath vs. Goliath,” Bale told Entertainment Weekly. “You’ve got the industrial Goliath with Ford and the charismatic Goliath of reputation with Ferrari, and then this true story of the triumph of the misfits.”
Here is the full synopsis:
The film follows an eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby (Damon) and his British driver, Ken Miles (Bale), who are dispatched by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca with the mission of building from scratch an entirely new automobile with the potential to finally defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship in France.
According to director James Mangold, the final product seems like it will hearken back to the old days with non-CGI racing. “One of the main goals with Logan was that I felt the superhero genre had gotten so CGI’d, so I wanted to make it as emotionally and physically real as possible,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “And that very much carried over into Ford v Ferrari. I wanted to see a racing film where the cars weren’t all digital creations [and] we were really out there on the track. And not just so we could talk about it when we’re doing press, but because it actually makes a physical difference when you see it on screen.”
The movie filmed last August in Savannah with a sequence that required extras in their best classy 1960s dress.
"Ford v. Ferrari" hits theaters on Nov. 15.
