As many larger films screen at this year's SCAD Savannah Film Festival with Oscar gold in sight, multiple small films — such as "Sylvia" — are screening at the festival with the same awards in mind.
The film's producer, Rachel Prendergast, spoke with the Savannah Morning News about coming to Savannah for the first time, the experience of showing the film and taking questions from students afterwards, and their plans for the awards circuit after this festival with sights set on an Oscar nomination.
Here's the official synopsis for the film:
This film is based on a true story of a woman called Sabrina who lost her children and mother in a fire. The only connection she had to them was her car she named 'Sylvia', which she was forced to sell.
