Savannah is on full display in the first trailer for "The Glorias."
The Savannah-shot film debuted its first trailer on Thursday, a day after releasing film stills on PEOPLE. The film stars Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander as feminist icon Gloria Steinem at various stages of her life.
Janelle Monae, Bette Midler and Lulu Wilson round out the cast of the Julie Taymor-directed film.
After a world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, multiple national publications raved about the movie, including The Hollywood Reporter which said "the focus on Gloria’s loving friendships and sharing of knowledge with these women makes the film as much about Steinem’s humanity as her politics."
The production came to Savannah in late 2018 and filmed through early 2019, featuring multiple local industry workers and actors such as students and graduates from SCAD along with industry legends such as costume designer Sandy Powell.
The film was also one of the projects cited in the annual Savannah Regional Film Commission report for last year, which showed that entertainment projects in the Savannah area led to $266 million in local economic growth.
"The Glorias" will be on digital and streaming exclusively on Prime Video on Sept. 30.
