Children's show "My Little Pony" will soon be unveiling its first-ever same-sex couple, according to an interview with Michael Vogel, a writer and producer for the show.
According to Buzzfeed, Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty are a lesbian couple who care for the character Scootaloo. They appeared in the "My Little Pony" books a few years ago, but they had not yet appeared on the show.
Vogel told Buzzfeed the storyline was important to him, because he wants the show to reflect the real world.
"My Little Pony has always been about friendship and accepting people (or ponies) that are different from you. So it just felt like something important to do," he told Buzzfeed.
The episode has already aired in Europe but will make its debut to U.S. audiences Saturday.
